"The ROTC program has helped to enhance my experience here at Otterbein by helping me to connect with other people outside of my major and sport. I have made really great friends through the ROTC program that have helped me step outside of my comfort zone and learn how to become a better leader."

How has your involvement in community service helped to enhance your experience at Otterbein?:

"Community service has helped me to learn communication skills as well as organizational skills that can be applied within my future career as a veterinarian. I have had the chance to speak to multiple media sources which helps my public speaking skills as well as providing me with the ability to speak to news sources. Volunteer work allows me to interact with a more diverse crowd on campus that is outside of my major."

Otterbein Political Science Professor Lends Her Expertise to News Outlets

La Trice Washington, Associate Professor of Political Science at Otterbein, teaches classes during presidential election years that draw directly from current events to bring life to the topics in the curriculum. Multiple news outlets interviewed Washington for her vast knowledge on the election. 

Education

• Majors within our Education department:  Early Childhood Program Teaching Licensure, Middle Childhood Teaching Licensure, Adolescent to Young Adult teaching Licensure, Multi-Age Teaching License, and Education Studies
• The curriculum is designed to provide a variety of school experiences with a diverse range of learners for preparation to teach at any school

Equine Science

• Majors within our Equine Science department: Equine Business Management, Equine Pre-Veterinary/Pre-Graduate Studies, and Equine Veterinary Technology
• Students are immersed in their own living laboratory and have the opportunity to expand their passion for horses into a competitive career path

Nursing

• Our Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) program boasts a 100% pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination - Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN)
• The Department of Nursing will prepare you to be a life-long learner, who is committed to the nursing profession, the community, and to meeting the changing healthcare needs of our society.

Psychology

• Students can pursue either a B.A or B.S in Psychology
• Our psychology majors are encouraged to participate in research projects which will allow them to develop critical thinking, problem solving and data analysis skills
• Students also have the opportunity to work on research with their professors, which may lead to presenting work at conferences around the country
